SNAPSHOTS | TORONTO | DAY 4

Day 4 included a trip to see the iconic Niagara Falls. It was a quick and smooth journey to get here from Toronto so I would definitely recommend setting aside a day to visit the falls.

We are big fans of continental breakfast. Apart from the first couple of days, we ended up having breakfast in the hotel lobby every morning. It was a pretty well-stocked buffet including eggs, sausage, bacon, pastries and bread, yogurt, cereal, etc. Meats and pastries changed every morning so it never got old.

To get to Niagara Falls, we took a Via Rail train from Union Station. There's also buses and private tours you can take. It was about a 2 hour ride and fairly comfortable with lots of space and leg room.

Our first stop of the trip was The Tunnel at the Niagara Parks Power Station. The Tunnel is a relatively new attraction at Niagara Falls that just opened this past summer.

You ride an elevator down 180 feet before you approach a long tunnel that spans 670 metres. It's about a 10 minute walk before you reach the viewing platform.

Light at the end of the tunnel!

It's a pretty surreal view. You can also watch the boats drive past and make its way to the base of the falls. Red ponchos = Canadian and blue ponchos = American. I didn't think that getting soaked for the rest of the day was going to be fun so I'm glad we skipped out on the boat ride.

This is the regular view from above. You can also see the viewing deck where we were previously!

For lunch, we dined at Chuck's Roadhouse, which is a chain that seems exclusive to Ontario. They serve pretty typical pub food, including burgers, steaks, and ribs at super reasonable prices. This top sirloin steak was only $13! It's not going to be the best steak you've ever had but it was really filling.

For the rest of our time in Niagara, we walked around the Clifton Hill area which has an amusement park feel and quality to it.

We had more time to kill than we initially thought so we played a round of glow-in-the-dark mini golf. Lots of laughs and good fun.

One more stop before the train ride back to Toronto was Hershey's Chocolate World. Lots of cool souvenirs and chocolate to look at.

When we got back to Toronto, we were pretty tired so we picked up some takeout to eat back at the hotel. This spread was from Pat's Homestyle Jamaican Restaurant. It's a no frills counter service restaurant that serves a lot of different Jamaican comfort food. We shared a small order of jerk chicken, oxtail, and chicken and beef patties. I didn't try the oxtail but the jerk chicken had a nice kick to it.

Patties were super flaky! I remember liking the beef more than the chicken, but not a massive difference between the two.

Spent the rest of the night relaxing at the hotel (also blew a fuse), concluding day 4 of the trip!
